As it turns out, Narwhals Are Real! And they’re in danger this summer from oil and gas exploration in their habitat, 90% of narwhals call Baffin Bay home. This is exactly where multinational oil exploration corporation, Multi Klient Invest, proposes using whale deafening seismic cannon mapping of the sea floor of Baffin Bay in order to locate pockets of oil to be drilled for.

  1. I heard your interview on Animal Voices a few months back. I wish more people knew narwhals are real. I was heartbroken to hear yesterday that this weekend, about 260 narwhals were killed by hunters after a failed attempt by Pond Inlet residents to free the animals, who were trapped in ice. The whales had been trapped since November. (I wonder if any of these whales were in your film.). The only good thing that came out of this, is at least the animals will be used for food locally, not commercial use. This story wasn’t in the news, and I wonder, if it had been, could this story have had a different outcome? In the 1980s, a similar story ended in everyone coming together to save 3 trapped baleen whales in Alaska. This story was made into a family movie called Big Miracle. If people weren’t so busy killing each other, perhaps this story would have had a happy ending.
