Did you know that earlier this year, 75 scientists cautioned President Obama against the adverse effects seismic blasting may have on marine life in an official letter?
While the residents of Clyde River, that depend upon marine mammals for survival, were told by the Seismic Cannon Mapping companies (TGS, PGS, and Multi Klient) representatives that there was no quantifiable evidence that seismic cannons would disrupt native wildlife, or they just didn’t answer their questions.
And this was, mind you, the ‘consultation’ phase required by Canadian law to inform and discuss with the Inuit communities before gaining approval by the National Energy Board (which did give its approval!).
